About

Back in December 2010 my family were host to two delightful characters, two FLAT characters, made by the daughters of an old school friend. Inspired by “Flat Stanley” by Jeff Brown they created their own flat people and sent them off around the world, keeping track of their journey on their blog. They have in turn inspired us to make our flat person, Flat Lily.

After spending a couple of weeks with us Flat Lily has embarked upon a Global Adventure. On the 4th April 2011 she slipped into her first envelope and set off for the USA to learn a little about life over there. Over the next month, or even years, Flat Lily will be posted around the world and she will tell us a little about everyone she meets along the way. Maybe she could even meet you.

Flat Lily hopes that her travels can help us all understand a little better he richness and beauty of our everyday lives.

So, how did Lily become Flat Lily?

Well, there are 2 answers to that question, you can decide which is true.

The first:

Lily was flattened between her parents in a bear hug.

and the second:

Lily poured so much love into making Flat Lily now the paper doll has Lily's heart.

About Flat Stanley

Stanley Lambchop and his younger brother Arthur are given a big bulletin board by their Dad for displaying pictures and posters. He hangs it on the wall over Stanley's bed. During the night the board falls from the wall, flattening Stanley in his sleep. He survives and makes the best of his altered state, and soon he is entering locked rooms by sliding under the door, and playing with his younger brother by being used as a kite. Stanley even helps catch some art museum thieves by posing as a painting on the wall. But one special advantage is that Flat Stanley can now visit his friends by being mailed in an envelope. Eventually Arthur reverts Stanley to his proper shape using an air pump used for footballs. (from Wikipedia)
